Don’t retire the camper just yet!

 It may seem like the time has come to retire the camper for the winter but wait (!) – there is ample reason to keep your camping activities going through October.

The pandemic brought significant changes to the way we camp. With the onset of “work from home,” numerous workers were granted the luxury of leaving big city life, and for many, that meant a permanent transition into RV life.

 Camping is also one of the safer things to do now that we live with Covid-19, and while it was a tough summer for many campers who were limited or had no availability at full campsites, if slim pickings weren’t bad enough, record-breaking heat and wildfires kept a lot of campers from their favorite spots.

The good news is – Fall!

The Weather is Oh So Nice!

While October can deliver unexpected winter weather, it’s mostly sweater and boots weather with not too hot, and not too cold temperatures. The air is crisp and invigorating – great for sports like hiking, biking, rock climbing and more. Days are warmish, and the nights are perfect for cozying up back at camp. Regardless of the weather you’ll be comfortable in your teardrop trailer but remember to be prepared for a sneaky chilly weather while outdoors!

And So Is the Peace and Quiet!

Under normal circumstances, October is the month that things get a little quieter as the camping season winds down. With people going back to work and kids getting back to school, campsites are far more abundant, upping your chances of scoring a great site and having a little rest and relaxation away from others when you get there.

Less Fire Danger

Rains have begun to quench the stubborn wildfires burning in the west. After a season of rigorous fire restrictions, at last, you might finally get to enjoy some time beside a cozy campfire telling ghost stories or playing campfire games. 

Autumn camping is a wonderful way to get away from it all and rejuvenate after a long hot summer. Spring is a long way off, so get out there and enjoy your favorite outdoor activities at least one last time before storing your camper away for winter. You won’t regret it!
