Can The Boulder™ charge my vehicle while it’s moving?
No, not yet… but we’re working on it. Many Electric Vehicle manufacturers such as Tesla currently do not allow charging from outside sources while the vehicle is moving. We are actively monitoring this situation, working with 3rd party solution providers, and will work with EV manufacturers to encourage this feature – and we will embrace it when this capability is ready.
How does The Boulder™ work?
The Boulder EV charging camper trailer has a bank of actively cooled EV batteries in a sealed section under the trailer. These batteries can be charged with an EV charging station at home or on the road. When the EV needs charging between EV charging stations, pull off the road and use The Boulder as a charging station.
Do you support Level 3 (CCS1) charging?
Yes, in both directions – (in) for recharging the EV trailer’s battery banks at EV charging stations, and (out) for recharging your EV.
How long will it take to charge my car?
Using Level 3, or Combined Charging Standard (CCS1), our predictive models indicate it will take approximately 10 minutes to give an additional 100 miles of range.
It should then take 80 minutes to be 80% full and a bit more time to get to 100%. We will have more details around numbers closer to actual delivery.
What about Level 1 charging through a J1772 connector?
Level 1 charging times will match the capacity of a J1772 connection. Not as fast as a supercharger, but yes, you can charge from home or on the road.
Do you support Tesla supercharging?
Yes – We will either configure your EV charging camper trailer to meet the requirements of your car, or provide the necessary adapters in order to provide Tesla Super Charging capabilities.
Will I be able to monitor the battery system?
Yes – we are developing a system that will provide information about the battery charge and battery health through Bluetooth to your phone, an in-cabin touchscreen, and/or through an in-vehicle information system.
