Yes – our teardrop trailers are made in the USA by local talent! We apply quality craftsmanship and materials, combined with modern technology such as CNC routers to build high-quality, functional, affordable camper trailers. These American-made camper trailers are fabricated and assembled to the highest standards in the USA and NOT cheaply manufactured in foreign factories.
Colorado Teardrops designs and builds all our trailers in our 20,000 square-foot manufacturing facility located in Boulder, Colorado, using local craftspeople, and as much locally sourced materials as possible in order to support our local economy and American job creation.
Watch as Ben takes you through a tour of the Colorado Teardrops factory and explains why our teardrop camper trailers are built to last generations.
Welded steel trailer frames are the foundation of our teardrop camper trailers. Steel trailer frames ensure strength and safety for you and your family while on-road or off-road. Our trailer frames are constructed from welded tubular steel.
Our team of welders builds each trailer frame by hand, taking important extra steps to cap and seal the tubular steel so that rust and corrosion don’t show up later down the road. After the frame is completed, it is then powder-coated to prevent corrosion.
The trailer frame is then sealed from the bottom, with different materials depending on the trailer model, to protect the cabin from below.
Cabin Frames Made from Aircraft-grade Aluminum
Colorado Teardrops’ American made teardrop trailer cabin frames are constructed from lightweight strong and durable aircraft-grade aluminum. We don’t use any wood in the cabin frame construction or plywood in the siding, preferring the durability and insulating qualities of rigid foam and an aluminum wrap.
The cabin frame is triple-insulated, to to ensure materials such as aluminum don’t contribute to heat loss, and once it’s attached to the trailer frame, we use either maple or hickory hardwood to create a warm and natural cabin interior environment that is free from plastics, particle board, melamine, linoleum, and other VOC-producing materials.
Our team of builders precisely cuts each panel for our trailers using precision jigs and CNC routers to ensure each piece lines up perfectly for consistent quality craftsmanship.
Once the frame and cabin of our teardrop trailers is complete, we finish the trailer by wrapping it with a skin of aluminum to seal it and protect it from the road and the elements.
Lastly, we apply the trim and then put it through quality control.
Our most popular teardrop camper model is the four person Mt. Massive, which is designed around a queen-sized bed and two bunk beds. The more off-road-capable Summit is also ideal for families, but if you prefer to camp alone or in pairs, you may prefer our off-road Canyonland or Basedrop models. Check out each model and the possible upgrades and personalization options.
