Since its inception, Paradox Sports has helped over 5,000 people with physical disabilities — civilian and Veteran. Together we have climbed in Colorado, California, Connecticut, Georgia, Iowa, Indiana, Kansas, Montana, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, New Hampshire, Wyoming, New York, Florida, Washington, Virginia, Texas, Vermont, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Maryland, Nevada, Illinois, and Massachusetts. We have annual trips to Ouray (CO), North Conway (NH), Yosemite (CA), the Grand Tetons (WY), and Shelf Road (CO).
Common disabilities Paradox Sports serves include individuals with visual/hearing impairments, neuromuscular disorders, autism, spinal cord injuries, people with paraplegia, amputees, post-traumatic stress syndrome, and traumatic brain injuries.
Paradox Sports has changed and grown over the years, but at the core, the unwavering dedication to living fully has always remained. Sometimes the hardest part is making the approach, getting started, and overcoming doubts and fears. The Paradox approach to adaptive climbing is unique. We empower our participants to push their limits and be self-sufficient climbers. We often say, “Show me what you’ve got!” versus what you don’t have — focusing on ability and attitude over disability.
Paradox strives to empower, teach, encourage, and connect with everyone on our programs. The individual climbers, volunteers, and staff bring their unique backgrounds and experience to our programs that make them famous. As we continue to serve the disability community, we anticipate an increase in growth and program expansion throughout 2021.
